Who We Are

THE BEGINNING

I (Mrs Manjula M Baria) have visited many interior Villages of Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra. I met and interactedwith many women and girls. After listening to them I understood the pathetic condition of their health and hygiene(Especially themenstrual unhygienic practices). Due to unhygienic practice lot of health issues, husband-wife relationship issue and many are ended up their relationship in divorce, there is no joy and peace in the family.

The destitute and unprivileged people have no hope in their lives to live better life.

The barriers to adopting menstrual hygiene practices of rural women.

  • lack of awareness.
  • lack of acceptance.
  • lack of availability of hygiene sanitary pads.

Why Elpida ?

There are many Silent problems among the women, one of them is menstrual unhygienic practices, Child marriages, unawareness, and women being underestimated.

There are 71% of adolescent girls remain unaware of menstruation until their first menstrual cycle, which Leads to the term period being negative for women, associated with fear, anxiety and embarrassment, The lack of acceptance means most women want to keep their period a secret, which results in them not using sanitary hygiene products and missing school as a way to manage menstruation.Studies indicate that most girls do not have consistent access to good-quality menstrual hygiene products with 88% of women and girls in India using homemade alternatives, such as old cloth, rags, and hay, In addition, women and girls lack access to appropriate sanitation facilities.
